You need the following things in order to file for a renewal request of your driver’s licence.

  • A computer, laptop or any device that has access to the internet
  • Driver’s Licence
  • UK Passport
  • National Insurance Number
  • All of your addresses for the last 3 years
  • You must be 70 years or older

In order to submit your request, you must:

  1. Click on the link that says ‘Apply Online’ on http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoringtransactions/BeforeyouapplyB/DG_066956.
  2. Carefully read the instructions on the page before clicking on ‘Start Now’.
  3. If this is your first time to use Directgov, choose the link that says ‘Register’. But if you are an existing user, choose ‘Log On’ instead.
  4. Click on the ‘Continue’ button in order to proceed.
  5. Fill in the boxes with the required information. Enter you name, gender, birthdate, place of birth, etc. on their respective fields. Proceed to the next step when you’ve finished.
  6. Read and follow through the rest of the steps to successfully file your request.
